SWH2022 S4.28 Margaritaville

Date June 29-30

Location: Hotel Myriam, Vias Plage, France

Weather: cool 23C

Distance travelled: About 20 km from Sète, a couple of km wandering down and along the beach

We spent a couple of days hanging out in Vias Plage, a seaside resort community surrounded by camping villages and with a Disney-like mainstreet full of American-nostalgia bars. At least the beach was very nice and the water refreshingly cool.

This guy flagged us down wondering if I had a chainbreaker so he could get rid of his broken rear derailleur and turn the bike into a fixie to get him home. After watching him bend my chainbreaker, I realized he didn’t know what he was doing and jumped in to ‘help’.
Not a great job, still too much slack in the chain, but something about cooks in the kitchen comes to mind.
Some pretty shells
Crowded beach
Now that the Via Rhona has ended, new signs for the Eurovelo 8 Mediterranean route that runs from Greece to Spain. Look much like the old signs
They make paddlewheelers different over here
Main street, with no evidence of American nostalgia

  1. Abhi, make sure the Tour de France gang is not catching up with you. 😀

All the best for the next section.
